Maartje van Putten to Advise Nord Stream on EU Affairs

April 3, 2008 | Zug | Nord Stream AG today announced that Dr. Maartje van Putten will serve as Nord Stream’s EU Affairs representative in Brussels. 

Dr. van Putten was a Dutch member of the European Parliament for 10 years and served on the World Bank’s Independent Inspection Panel from 1999 to 2004. In her role at the World Bank, she was responsible for reviewing the pleas of private citizens who may be affected by projects financed by the World Bank Group. As such, Dr. van Putten was involved in a number of studies into the possible impacts of large infrastructure projects including hydrocarbon pipelines. In 2006, she published a study on Accountability Mechanisms for the financial sector of what a popular version will be published in 2008 by McGill University Press in Montreal Canada.

Dr. van Putten is currently a member of the Independent Review Mechanism of the African Development Bank.
